Grip Link was born out of a company called Off The Front, Inc. Off The Front, Inc. has been in the grip business since 1989. It had its humble beginnings in a garage in southern California. The company was founded by a couple of aspiring athletes, with the help of some real Olympic athletes and some artistic surfers. At the time, cycling tape was limited to black or white foam that broke too easily. This group set out to make a new and improved grip tape for the cycling industry.
After a year of experimenting with various materials and inks, a new bar tape was born that quickly set new standards for the cycling industry. Within a year, the new tape was selling internationally.
The company began developing a line of sport grips and other specialty grips. The world's top athletes started using our grips customized to their specific sport. Our grips are used by world record holders, Olympic athletes and World Champions in fields such as cycling, pole vaulting, rowing, softball, and other sports that make use of gripping tape.
The grip products continued to evolve, and the company has been pulled in the direction of safety grips. Having studied the use of gripping surfaces and hands for almost 2 decades now, we understand the interactions between gripping surface and the hand is critical, and in some cases, life saving (or, if misjudged, life threatening). This knowledge has brought us to the development of Grip Link, the patented railing cover that adds comfort, control, confidence, and, most importantly, the much-needed additional safety to grab-bars and railing.
Consider this: All over the world, railing is used as a primary safety feature for stairs, ladders, bathtubs and showers. However, little thought is given to hot and cold weather. These extremes can make the railing either too uncomfortable to handle, or even too slick (when wet) to be relied upon. Especially in the case of a fall. Grip Link has address the primary failings of a rail system and has even gone one better by providing a variety of eye catching options and even a glow-in-the dark option for blackout emergencies.
